The Ice Age Giants series was released in memory of the eight extinct animals of the Pleistocene era. In this era, which ended about 11,700 years ago, the last ice age occurred. The Woolly Rhino is the second coin in this series.
The woolly rhinoceros is about the same size as the modern white rhino, except for its thick coat, lived thousands of years ago during the Ice Age. He had a massive hump on his back and a huge horn on his face, reaching 1 meter in length. The coin was minted at the Leipzig Precious Metals Works.
On the obverse there is an image of a woolly rhinoceros, the legend of other giants of the Ice Age, the purity and weight of the metal, the year of issue.
The reverse depicts the coat of arms of the Republic of Ghana and the denomination of the coin.
